While attending the University of Kansas School of Architecture in 1974, Mark Sumada formed a partnership to remodel historic homes in the city of Lawrence. Working alongside his architecture professors, Mark was able to hone his home building and design skills and pay his way through college. During those same years, Mark also supervised several new-home framing crews.
From these modest beginnings, Suma Design has steadily grown in both size and scope-from four homes per year in the early years to as many as 30 per year today. Current new home prices range from the upper $300,000s to more than $2,000,000.
Suma Design homes can be found throughout the greater Kansas City area, including the Northland. Mark’s core staff of ten employees shares his values and works together to maintain rigorous standards in quality construction. Mark takes the time to understand each buyer’s needs and desires in a new home. He is always available for personal and professional assistance when decisions need to be made.
A Suma Design home is one that is built with every aspect scrutinized by Mark, himself. His thirty-plus years of experience in the home building industry have given him first-hand knowledge of every phase of construction-from site planning and design to the final finish.Additionally, Mark maintains his own in-house framing crew, and with his personal supervision, ensures the structural integrity of every Suma Design home. And finally, you won’t find many home builders with Mark’s creative instincts. His extensive practical experience enables him to utilize innovative and creative techniques in cost-effective ways.
A Suma Design home is always a thoughtful space, full of light and alive with detail.
